Vattenfall has appointed David Flood as its new head of offshore wind.
Flood joins from Norwegian energy company Statkraft, where he has led the offshore wind business, and will take up the position on 2 March.
“David brings outstanding experience from more than 15 years in offshore wind, working across the entire value chain in joint ventures and partnerships,” said Catrin Jung, head of business area wind at Vattenfall.
Jung said his industry knowledge, network and strategic perspective would be “invaluable as we advance Vattenfall’s offshore ambitions”.
“I’m delighted to welcome David and look forward to the fresh insights and leadership he will bring to Vattenfall,” she said.
“I’m delighted to join Vattenfall to lead the offshore wind business unit, a key part of the company’s mission to enable fossil freedom as a profitable energy business,” said Flood.
He added that Vattenfall has built “a world-class offshore wind portfolio with strong operations and flagship projects across Northern Europe” and is well-positioned for the future.
Flood has spent 20 years in the fossil-free energy sector across offshore wind, onshore wind, solar, hydropower and grid services, and has held senior management roles delivering European projects.
He will report directly to Jung and join the business area wind management team.
