EDF, PS Renewables seek input on 500MW Rosefield

Trianel plans 900MW battery project in Germany

Members of the public are invited to share their views on EDF’s 500MW Rosefield solar farm following acceptance of the application by the Planning Inspectorate on 24 October.

The proposed solar farm with battery storage would be located between Buckingham and Aylesbury.

Plans have been significantly updated following a second stage of public consultation last year, including moving some panels further away from homes and villages, enhanced proposals for new footpaths and planting including 4km of new hedgerows and over 8.5 hectares of new woodland, and refined proposed locations for the battery storage and Rosefield Substation.

A community benefit fund would provide £400 per megawatt of installed capacity for communities to spend on local projects.

EDF power solution UK’s director of storage, solar and private wire Matthew Boulton said: “We would like to thank everyone who has taken their time to share their views with us over the past two years.

“Community feedback has been crucial in helping us to refine our plans for Rosefield Solar Farm, which now include a significant increase to the amount of new footpaths and planting as well as a relocation, as requested, of the proposed substation.

“With the potential to supply enough clean, secure electricity to power over 57,000 homes each year*, Rosefield Solar Farm would make an important contribution to the UK’s future energy supply and the government’s targets for scaling up solar power generation.”

PS Renewables co-owner and director Matt Hazell said: “We are delighted that Rosefield Solar Farm has been accepted for examination, our fourth DCO application which has reached this milestone.

“Projects like Rosefield will be key contributors to the UK’s energy security alongside bringing investment, low-cost electricity for consumers and helping meet global climate goals and net-zero targets.”

The application is now in the pre-examination stage and anyone is able to register to participate in the examination stage by submitting a relevant representation to the Planning Inspectorate between 5 November and 12 December 2025.

These submissions will help inform the topics that are considered during the six-month examination stage.
