The Canada-Nova Scotia Offshore Energy Regulator has launched its offshore wind Call for Information NS25-1R and Pre-qualification NS25-1R, opening both processes from 16 October 2025 to 13 January 2026.
The announcements follow joint Strategic Direction received on 18 September 2025 from the governments of Canada and Nova Scotia to formally begin preparations for a future Call for Bids in the Canada-Nova Scotia offshore area.
The Call for Information invites feedback on the governments’ Strategic Direction letter and related items outlined in the online form.
The regulator said it welcomes input from Indigenous groups and rights holders, the fishing sector, industry, government, the public, and other stakeholders.
Feedback is sought on the Wind Energy Areas under consideration and the potential location of parcels within them, the evaluation criteria to be applied during the bidding process, and possible draft terms and conditions for a submerged land licence.
At the same time, the Pre-qualification NS25-1R process is open to companies wishing to demonstrate eligibility to participate in the next Call for Bids.
Interested participants must submit information through an online form showing how they meet the pre-qualification requirements.
Only prequalified companies will be eligible to bid for parcels in the forthcoming offshore wind auction.
The regulator said both processes represent the next stage in developing Nova Scotia’s offshore wind sector under the national Offshore Renewable Energy Land Tenure framework.
