Windward Offshore has taken delivery of its first commissioning service operation vessel, Windward Athens, from Vard Brattvaag shipyard in Norway.
The 87.5-metre vessel is designed for installation, commissioning and maintenance activities in offshore wind farms, with capacity for 120 people.
It features a motion-compensated gangway, advanced crane systems and hybrid propulsion technology prepared for future operation on green methanol.
Windward Athens is scheduled to commence its maiden charter immediately with RWE, in collaboration with North Star Renewables.
“The delivery of Windward Athens is a defining moment for Windward Offshore,” said managing director Benjamin Vordemfelde. “Being the first vessel in our fleet, she is the anchor stone for the high-quality and reliable services we will provide to the offshore wind industry.”

The vessel’s name pays tribute to one of Windward Offshore’s founding shareholders.
Three additional sister ships – Windward Paris, Windward Munich and Windward Hamburg – are under construction and will expand the company’s CSOV fleet.
