Workers at SeAH Wind in Teesside have voted to strike after rejecting a pay offer.
The GMB Union said the ballot had an 80.42% turnout, with 96.49% voting in favour of industrial action.
It claims a pay offer from the company was below inflation.
Strike action is expected to begin this autumn and could delay production of monopiles for UK offshore wind farms, according to the union.
The dispute follows a GMB campaign for union recognition, supported by 81% of the workforce, GMB said.
GMB organiser Andrew Blunt said: “Workers have won the right to union recognition and are now demanding a fair wage for a fair day’s work.
“The ballot results show that our members are clear – unless the employer gets back into serious talks our members will have no choice but to take strike action.”
SeAH Wind has been contacted for comment.
