Vattenfall has signed a multi-year framework agreement with Van Oord for the chartering of the jack-up MPI Resolution (pictured).
The deal will allow Vattenfall to expand its capacity in the field of offshore asset maintenance.
This contract guarantees the availability of the vessel for several months of the year, especially during the peak maintenance season from the beginning of March to the end of October.
With an option to extend beyond the initial term, this partnership represents a significant step towards operational efficiency at Vattenfall, the developer said.
Vattenfall head of offshore generation Pavlo Malyshenko said: “We are pleased to announce this agreement and to expand our trusting partnership with Van Oord.
“Now that the availability of the MPI Resolution is ensured, we expect to see significant improvements in operations and maintenance (O&M) when it comes to replacing major components.”
Van Oord managing director of offshore energy Arnoud Kuis said: “Van Oord understands the importance of strategic partnerships, and we are proud that Vattenfall has once again chosen us as a trusted partner for the maintenance of its European offshore wind portfolio.
“This new long-term framework agreement for heavy maintenance, which follows the previous four-year framework agreement, ensures the continued use of our MPI Resolution in the growing O&M market.”
