Hofor has put development of its proposed 300MW Aflandshage wind farm off Denmark on hold.
The developer said it has not been possible to obtain “sufficient assurance” the project will receive a new establishment permit.
Danish authorities revoked the permit earlier this year, in part due to new policies on counting bats. It has lined up various contracts, including with Siemens Gamesa for turbine supply.
“Therefore, the investment is put on hold, and Hofor cannot notify suppliers that contracts are being initiated,” it said.
“The project will be abandoned completely, unless it proves possible in the near future to continue the project in another form,” the developer added.
“It is a shame to have to put such a good and clear project on hold. Aflandshage Wind Farm would be an important step in the green transition with green electricity equivalent to 300,000 households – and especially in light of the fact that this project is one of the few projects that can be realized before 2030.
“Throughout the process, we have had a good dialogue with the suppliers, who have been open to looking at opportunities to realize the project. Just as the authorities have shown great determination in relation to creating a new way forward for the project.”
