Hofor has received notification from the Danish Energy Board of Appeal that a permit awarded by the Danish Energy Agency for its Aflandshage offshore wind farm has been revoked.
Together with advisers, Hofor is now reading the board’s letter to understand the reasons behind its decision to revoke the permit.
According to Hofor’s development plan, the 26-turbine offshore wind farm will be operational in 2026.
“We can ascertain that, among other things, there is a changed practice by the authorities regarding the counting of bats, which has triggered the rejection in the appeals board,” said Hofor area manager for wind & energy trading Jesper Pedersen.
“We have otherwise had a good, ongoing dialogue about the environmental impact assessment with the authorities, including about bats,” Pedersen added.
“And it is our experience that we have lived up to the demands that have been made of us. We will now engage in dialogue with the authorities, our advisers and suppliers about the next step.”
Hofor stated the dialogue must clarify the need for supplementary studies that can ensure the implementation of the offshore wind farm.
