Renewable Norway has presented a roadmap to 2030 to the Norwegian government to enable the country to accelerate the growth of renewables.
Head of the trade body Åslaug Haga presented the roadmap to Minister of Petroleum and Energy Terje Lien Aasland.
She said: “Half of Norway’s energy consumption is fossil fuels, and we are not on track to reach our climate goals.
“That is why we have drawn up a roadmap to help parliamentarians speed up the development of renewable energy.
“It is a crucial part of the solution to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, while maintaining industry and jobs.”
To increase the pace of renewable production, Renewable Norway has urged the government to reduce licensing timeframes to within three years for renewable developments, implement a tax regime with better terms than oil and gas and double grid capacity.
“In Norway, investments in oil and gas are increasing, while they are declining in clean power and grids. Last year, seven times as much was invested in the oil industry as in renewable energy,” said Haga.
