TotalEnergies, Iberdrola and Norsk Havvind have named their Norwegian offshore wind consortium Skjoldblad ahead of the country’s first large-scale tenders.
The three partners formed a consortium last year in order to bid for up-to 4.5GW Utsira Nord and Sørlige Nordsjø 2 projects off Norway’s west coast.
Their new name is inspired by the Skjolblad water naval plant, which grows in the harsh western Norwegian coastal environment.
“The word Skjoldblad consists of “shield” and “blade”. Together with the logo, it is an expression of the consortium’s commitment to exploiting wind energy through pioneering industrial technology”, Iberdrola said.
The consortium will have a significant focus on strengthening local industrial expertise and developing Norwegian supply chains and creating new, local jobs, it added.
