Nexans has secured an agreement to provide cables for the 778MW Horizante wind farm in Peru.
Nexans concluded an agreement for the cables with Sigdo Koppers Ingeniería y Construcción.
The package will consist of 840 km of electrical conductors, mainly aluminium medium voltage, which will be produced in collaboration with Nexans Indeco (Peru), one of the Nexans Group plants in the Andean region.
The first deliveries are planned for May 2022.
Horizonte will feature 140 wind turbines built on eight hectares.
Conductor design was optimised based on the requirements of the project.
Horinzonte is located in the municipality of Taltal, in the Antofagasta region.
Nexans Chile commercial manager Miguel Fernandez said: “We have worked with Sigdo Koppers and Colbún to find the best solutions, in terms of the of conductors, section and reel design, and thus generate relevant efficiencies that contribute to the success of the project”.
Horizonte is the largest wind farm under construction in Latin America at present.
