Ventient Energy has signed a purchase agreement for a total of 443MW of renewables capacity on the Iberian Peninsula.
The agreement covers 203MW of wind and the future buildout of 240MW of hybridised solar which will be built on Ventient’s wind sites.
It will complement Ventient’s existing Iberian wind and hybrid solar growth opportunities, paving the way to a business of over 2GW in Iberia and 790MW in Spain, the company stated.
Ventient Energy chief executive Mark Jones (pictured) said: “This acquisition is a step of great significance for Ventient.
“It grows our major commitment to the Spanish energy system and strengthens our relations with the communities and authorities in the region of Castilla y Leon.
“Together with our current wind farms, we are already broadening our business through creating state-of-the-art hybrid plants. These will provide the most efficient energy generation from each site.”
The sale is expected to conclude early next year, subject to regulatory approval.
