RWE Renewables chief operating officer for offshore wind Sven Utermohlen has been elected chief executive and chairman of the board of the German Federal Association of Wind Farm Operators (BWO).
Utermohlen succeeds former chair Catrin Jung, who is head of the offshore business unit at Vattenfall.
Jung remains on the BWO board with Northland Power’s Martin Skiba and the newly-elected Stefan Klett from Veja Mate.
Utermohlen said: “The results of the last few years show that we can achieve a lot together.
“Exciting times lie ahead of us and I am sure that the further expansion of offshore wind energy still holds some challenges in store for us.
“I am pleased about the confidence that I will be able to meet these challenges in the future as BWO CEO.”
BWO managing director Stefan Thimm said: “Catrin Jung has had a significant impact on the association over the past two years.
“In general, it was very impressive to see how the previous board of directors has repeatedly succeeded in putting the company’s own interests aside and making decisions in the interests of the industry.”
