Specialist Marine Consultants (SMC) has won a contract from Ailes Marines to deliver vessel inspection services to support construction of the 496MW Saint-Brieuc offshore wind farm off the coast of France.
SMC will provide up to three French accredited vessel inspectors (AVIs) to the project, who will be backed-up by the company’s back-office support structure, marine consultants and additional AVI’s.
Saint-Brieuc is being developed in the Brittany region off the northwest coast of France, in the Baie de St-Brieuc by Ailes Marines, which is 100% owned by Iberdrola.
It will consist of 62 Siemens Gamesa 8MW turbines.
SMC business development manager George Moore said: “SMC are extremely pleased to be able to support construction of the St Brieuc offshore wind farm.
“France represents an exciting market opportunity for us and after years of supporting projects with planning phase consultancy, its great to be able to deliver ‘boots on the ground’ as physical operations are now becoming a reality.
“We’re pleased also to build on our relationship with Iberdrola after working closely with them for construction of the East Anglia 1 offshore wind farm in the UK.
“Their invitation to once again support their operations here is testament to the positive work our teams have been delivering to them for a number of years now.”
Saint-Brieuc offshore wind farm marine assurance manager Graham Farrant said:”We are happy to have SMC onboard to ensure we have the expertise to provide marine assurance and the assistance they have already provided to complete remote audits during the current Covid outbreak.”
