Poland’s state-owned transmission system operator has issued grid connection terms to PGE for the 896MW Baltica 1 offshore wind farm off the coast of Poland.
TSO Polskie Sieci Elektroenergetyczne’s technical connection conditions include capacity, and the investments required for the transmission infrastructure on the part of PGE and PSE.
PGE said the technical conditions for connecting Baltica 1 to the transmission network are an important stage in the development of the project.
Baltica 1 will be located about 80 km from the shore, and has already been issued with a location permit, the company said.
It is working on a project plan detailing the schedule and budget assumptions, which will allow it to move on to the next step signing the connection agreement with the TSO.
The company will then conduct environmental tests and apply for a decision on environmental conditions.
The initial plan assumes that Baltica 1 will start working after 2030, PGE said.
The company is also planning to build the 1498MW Baltica 2 and 1045MW Baltica 3 offshore wind farms, both of which secured environmental permits in January.
In February, a two-year wind measurement campaign in the Baltic Sea was completed using a floating lidar.
The next stages in the projects’ development will be seabed surveying and conceptual work on power output as part of the work to obtain a building permit.
