Senvion has delivered the last of 32 nacelles for turbines at a 200MW offshore wind farm in the German North Sea being developed by Trianel.
Trianel said the delivery means all the components for the 6.3MW 152 turbines have been completed for the €800m Borkum West 2.2 project and shipped to Eemshaven, the base port for the construction of the wind farm.
Thirteen turbines have been installed, with 11 in operation, the company said.
Borkum West 2.2 commercial director Klaus Horstick said: “We are pleased that we have reached this important milestone in cooperation with Senvion and the production staff in Bremerhaven despite the difficult situation.”
Borkum West 2.2 technical director Irina Lucke said: “Our special thanks go to the Senvion employees in the Bremerhaven plant, who have contributed with great dedication to the success of our project and completed all 32 (nacelles), despite the difficult situation for them.”
Turbine installation had been due to start in mid-April but was delayed because of financial problems at Senvion.
The developers and Senvion agreed on a continuation agreement covering the completion of the 32 nacelles, as well as other support during installation and commissioning of the machines.
