Vestas is laying off 90 staff at a production facility in Denmark as a result of lower demand in the European onshore wind market.
The company said that in order to “sustain our competitiveness, we need to scale down production of 4MW platform nacelles and hubs in Ringkobing”.

It added that with “most of market growth expected to be outside of Europe, our global footprint must reflect market developments in order for us to grasp growth opportunities”.
Vestas said the company still has a “strong presence” in Ringkobing, which, as well the assembly factory – currently employing 530 people – has HR, finance, transport, planning and R&D functions.
In total, Vestas currently employs more than 640 people in Ringkobing.
