Jan De Nul has signed a contract for the transport and installation of the turbines for the 605MW Kriegers Flak project off the coast of Denmark.
The contract with developer Vattenfall is for the transport and installation of the wind farm’s 72 8.4-167 Siemens Gamesa turbines.
Work will start in the first quarter of 2021 and will take four months.
Jan De Nul offshore director Philippe Hutse said: “We are proud to have been awarded an offshore wind turbine installation project of this magnitude.
“It confirms that Jan De Nul is a trustworthy experienced partner in installing large wind farms at sea. Our investments in knowhow and equipment for offshore installation works bear fruit.”
EEW is supplying the project’s monopile foundations and Bladt will provide the transition pieces.
Kriegers Flak is located in the Baltic Sea in water depths varying between 15 and 30 metres, 15km from shore.
In 2017 and in 2018, Jan De Nul built, towed and installed the two large gravity-based foundations (pictured) for the wind farm’s high voltage offshore stations.
