The W2Power multi-turbine floating offshore wind platform has started generating power at the Astican shipyard in Gran Canaria, ahead of deployment at the Plocan test site in the Canary Islands.
Spanish company Ingeteam, which was responsible for the integration of wind turbines and the design of the power and control electronics system, posted a video on its Twitter feed of the platform in action.

Spanish companies EnerOcean and Ghenova and UK outfit Tension Tech International are also involved in the project.
The platform comprises two 6MW turbines.
