ZX Lidars technology will be incorporated on Vestas turbines at Fred Olsen Renewables Hogaliden wind farm.
The ZX TM wind lidar on the nacelle of the V150-4.2MW machines will remotely assess wind conditions at multiple ranges ahead and across the entire rotor diameter.
This will give Fred Olsen Renewables and Vestas a platform for ‘best-in-class’ turbine performance assessments, tuning and wind farm control, ZX Lidar said.
Data gathered remotely in the free stream, in the turbine induction zone and across the wind farm is used to benchmark performance of individual machines.
Fred Olsen Renewables project director Oyvind Lund said: “We expect all our future projects to feature nacelle mounted Lidar wind measurement.
“High resolution wind data ahead of the turbine, representative of what the whole turbine rotor will see, allows Fred Olsen Renewables as the wind farm owner to make informed decisions on how we optimise operation of our energy assets.”
ZX Lidar will be exhibiting at the WindEurope 2019 event in Bilbao this week.
