Vestas has secured a turbine order totalling 42MW for an unnamed wind farm and client in Vietnam.
The supply and installation deal is the first in south-east Asia for the V150-4.2MW machine, and also includes a 10-year AOM 5000 service agreement.
Delivery is expected to start in the last quarter of 2019.
Vestas said that to reduce the project cost it has customised slimmer 105-metre site-specific towers that require less steel.
It added that the turbines will be the biggest in Vietnam and have 73.7-metre blades.
Vestas Asia Pacific president Clive Turton said: “This important win showcases the potential of Vietnam as one of the key southeast Asian countries to attract investors to grow its wind energy sector.
“With our in-depth market knowledge, ability to provide customised solutions and our established local presence in Vietnam, Vestas is ready to support the nation’s growing ambition to increase renewable energy sources.”
Meanwhile, the Danish manufacturer will also supply turbines to Foxwell Energy and TCC Green Energy for the 43MW Changhua wind farm in Taiwan.
The order is for 12 V105-3.6MW machines and two service agreements – a 20-year AOM 4000 and five-year AOM 4000 deal.
Installation is expected to start in the first quarter of 2020.
The turbines will have 100-metre towers customised for the site.
Turton said: “As a sustainable energy solutions provider that works closely with our customers, we are able to customise our products and solutions to help them optimise the site challenges.
“Vestas is proud to be partnering with established local project owners like Foxwell Energy and TCC Green Energy who are eager to expand the renewable footprint in Taiwan.”
Foxwell Energy chief executive Cindy Chen said: “We are honoured to get full support from Vestas to execute this project efficiently.”
