Norwegian energy giant Equinor generated over 1 terrawatt-hour of electricity last year from renewables, up from 830 gigawatt-hours in 2017, according to its 2018 sustainability report.
In 2018, Equinor said it participated in offshore wind and solar projects totalling 1.3GW, of which 750MW are owned by the company. The company was involved in just over 751MW of clean power assets in 2017.
A total of 1.25TWh of electricity was produced from green sources during 2018, it said.
Equinor chief executive Eldar Saetre (pictured) said: “Equinor is developing as a broad energy company and we are gradually building a profitable portfolio within renewable energy.
“Renewables have opened a new set of opportunities for value creation for our company, while also diversifying our portfolio, making it more resilient, both strategically as well as financially.”
