Smulders has completed the load-out of the jacket for the substation for Northland Power’s 269MW Deutsche Bucht offshore wind farm.
The load-out of the structure, which weighs more than 1700 tonnes, took place in Vlissingen, the Netherlands.
Weather permitting, the jacket is expected to be shipped to the German North Sea location, at the beginning of March.
The substation topside, which was assembled at the Damen Shiprepair Vlissingen yard, will be loaded on the pontoon at the end of February.
Main contractor Van Oord chose the Smulders-Eiffage joint venture for the engineering, procurement, construction and installation of the topside and jacket.
Smulders’ work concerns steel constructions, architectural outfitting, sea fastening and load-out of the topside plus the steel construction, sea fastening as well as load-out of the jacket.
Deutsche Bucht, will comprise 33 turbines, 95 kilometres north-west of Germany’s Borkum Island.
