Vestas has received an order for an undisclosed 202MW wind project in the US.
The company will supply 56 of its V136-3.45MW turbines. Delivery commences in the third quarter of 2019, followed by commissioning in the fourth quarter of next year.
Vestas will deliver the turbines in a 3.6MW power optimised mode. The contract includes supply and commissioning. The company will also service the wind farm for 10 years.
When installed on 112 metre towers, the turbines will have a tip height of 180 metres making it the tallest wind farm in the US.
Deploying taller towers unlocks new and previously unharnessed wind resource areas, and will further increase the wind power facility’s annual energy production, the company said.
Vestas sales and service division president for the US and Canada Chris Brown said: “We’re pleased to expand our tall tower technology and 4MW platform.
“The combination of taller towers and 4MW technology is perfectly designed to extract the abundant resource at the site, and deliver low-cost, reliable energy to the community and customer”.
The order includes supply and commissioning of the turbines as well as a ten-year Active Output Management 5000 (AOM 5000) service agreement, designed to maximise uptime and energy production and ensure optimised performance for the lifetime of the project.
Deliveries will begin in the third quarter of 2019, with commissioning scheduled for the fourth quarter.
