Vestas has installed a prototype of its V150 turbine model at the Osterild test site in western Jutland, Denmark.
The 4.2MW unit is more than 200 metres tall and will now undergo a test and verification programme before entering full-scale production.

The Danish manufacturer said it has already received orders for the turbine over 1GW in Australia, Brazil, Finland, Germany, Sweden and the US.
It is also planning to set up a V150-4.2MW production facility in Brazil.
Vestas said the model includes an upgraded gearbox, generator system and converter, as well as a new blade design and enforced blade bearings.
The 73.7-metre blades allows a 22% increase in swept area to improve energy production by 21% compared with the V136-3.45MW, it added.
