A new non-profit organisation has been set up to support the global growth of offshore wind power.
The founders of the World Forum Offshore Wind comprise nine companies across the industry’s value chain and the US Business Network for Offshore Wind, which itself has over 200 members.
The forum has offices in Hamburg, Germany, and Singapore, and aims to facilitate access to governmental and international forums in order to open new markets and to back global offshore wind growth.
It will hold an event on 5-6 March next year in Tapei, Taiwan, bringing together key offshore wind decision-makers from around the world.
The other founders are: DEME, EEW SPC, Eon Climate and Renewables, Green Giraffe, Innogy, Marsh, Northland Power, Suzlon Energy and Watson Farley & Williams.
Eon Climate and Renewables chief operating officer Sven Utermohlen said: “In times of rapid global expansion of the offshore wind industry, WFO is an excellent initiative.”
Suzlon Energy chairman Tulsi Tanti said: “WFO connects India and other emerging offshore countries with mature markets from Europe.”
