The total amount of renewable energy across the grid in France totalled a capacity of over 50,000MW for this year, according to French renewables association SER.
The combined total of all renewables reached 50,188MW for the period up to September 2018.
In the third quarter of year, 565MW of new facilities were connected to the metropolitan electricity grids, with wind and solar respectively accounting for 315MW and 213MW.
Over the last 12 months, 2591MW have been connected.
Renewable energies also accounted for 21% of France’s electricity consumption coverage during the period.
Wind farm capacity reached 14,288MW, with 315MW connected in the quarter alone. This amounts to 1404MW for the year so far. PEP has set a target for the sector of 15,000 for the full year.
The sector produced 4TWh for the quarter and 26.8TWh for the previous 12 month period. This is up 24% from the previous year.
The rate of coverage of consumption for wind energy is 4.1% in the last quarter and remains stable at 5.5% over the last 12 months.
