German developer Energiequelle has started construction of the Paltusmki wind farm in North Ostrobothnia, Finland, its first such project in the Nordic country
The 21.5MW project is located 3km from the Gulf of Finland and will comprise five Lagerwey L-147 turbines, each rated at 4.3MW with 132-metre hub heights.
Once connected to the grid, Paltusmki will produce about 75.5 million kilowatt-hour of electricity a year.
The project has been developed in cooperation with the Finnish developer Smart Windpower.
Energiequelle country manager for Finland Nils Borstelmann said: “It was not foreseeable that we will be able to construct our first project already after such a short period. We needed to get to know and to understand the market first. This is only possible with great team work.
“The first move has now been made, in the end of 2019 the wind farm will be connected to the grid.”
