Nordex has installed the first of two N149 with a nominal output of 4.5MW at ABO Wind’s Wennerstorf 2 wind farm in Germany.
ABO Wind repowered the site with the first turbines from Nordex’s Delta4000 product series to increase capacity at the site south of Hamburg by 73%.
The N149’s single-piece rotor blade measures almost 73 metres in length and has a diameter of 149 metres. Sseries production of the N149 is due to kick off in 2019.
Nordex head of German business Jorg Hempel said: “We are pleased to have completed this beacon project in time for the commencement of WindEnergy Hamburg 2018.
“In addition to our turbines at the port of Hamburg, the N149/4.0-4.5 in the vicinity of the Nordex main office in Hamburg is another impressive project with which we can demonstrate the Nordex Group’s state-of-the-art technology to our customers.”
