Bladt Industries has shipped out the last two offshore substation topsides from its Aalborg facility in Denmark for Orsted’s 1.2GW Hornsea project 1 off the Yorkshire coast of England.
The Danish fabricator was contracted to build three topsides for the project, the first time Bladt was contracted to manufacture three substations at the same time.
Bladt Industries said it carried out the work in cooperation with Semco Maritime. The first of the three topsides and a reactive compensation substation have already been installed at the project site.
Hornsea 1 will consist of 174 Siemens Gamesa 7MW turbines and is scheduled for completion in 2020.
