Dutch subsea service provider N-Sea has won a contract from transmission system operator 50Hertz for unexploded ordnance (UXO) clearance in the eastern part of the German Baltic Sea.
N-Sea will identify and remove UXO along up to three offshore wind farm export cable routes off Lubmin in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania.
The exact routes are not yet defined, but the total distance will be about 120km.
In next year’s German offshore wind auctions, up to 750MW of capacity will be offered for projects in the Baltic Sea.
