Huadian Heavy Industries is investigating what caused a fire to break out and workers to evacuate an offshore substation at the 400MW Binhai North wind farm in Jiangsu, China.
The company, which is contracted to build the wind farm, said a ’35kV cable deflagration’ occurred during a thunderstorm.
The project will comprise 100 4MW turbines.
It is being developed by China’s State Power Investment Company.
