Amazon East delivers in N Carolina

Avangrid Renewables has started commercial operation of its 208MW Amazon Wind Farm US East in North Carolina.

Amazon East, formerly known as Desert Wind, features Gamesa G114s with 93-metre towers and 114-metre rotor diameters.

The project, which is located in Pasquotank and Perquimans counties, took 18 months to build and employed 500 workers at peak construction.

The wind farm has a permanent crew of 17 technicians and supplies power to Amazon Web Services.
