GE’s renewable energy business secured record annual onshore wind orders last year totaling over 7GW, boosted by a strong market in the US and maiden orders from Greece and Saudi Arabia.
The American engineering giant said it signed onshore wind agreements in 2016 across 19 countries, including Japan, India and Germany, helping to grow its onshore wind installed base to 57GW.
“We are thrilled with the customer response to investments the onshore wind team made in developing new products and solutions, especially in the US where our new platform is contributing around 75% of our orders in 2016,” Jérôme Pécresse, CEO of GE Renewable Energy said.
