Georgia utility Southern Power has completed acquisition of a controlling interest in the 257MW Wake Wind Energy Center in Texas from Invenergy.
The project in Crosby and Floyd counties near Lubbock features 150 GE 1.7MW turbines and was built by Blattner Energy.
Invenergy developed and will operate the project; the company will also retain a small share.
The deal for a 90% stake was first agreed earlier this year at a price of around $470m, according to US Securities Exchange Commission filings.
“Southern Power remains committed to strategically developing our renewable energy portfolio,” said chief executive Buzz Miller.
“The Wake Wind Energy Center continues our growth in wind generation and will provide renewable wholesale energy to our customers,” he added.
