Heerema Marine Contractors has installed the substation topside for the 402MW Veja Mate offshore wind farm in the German North Sea.
The work was carried out by the company’s crane vessel Hermod. Avantha Group, Cofely Fabricom and lemants are tackling the turnkey supply and installation of the HV offshore substation.
The installation of inter array cables is set to start on 1 October.
In mid-August, Seajacks jack-up Scylla completed installation of the 67 XXL monopiles for the project.
Offshore WindForce, a joint venture between Boskalis and Volker Stevin International, started construction of the first 1300-tonne EEW-built monopile in April.
Work on the transition pieces started in June and will be completed independently from the monopiles. Some 40 transition pieces are currently in place.
In early 2017, Fred Olsen Windcarrier’s jack-up vessel Bold Tern will start installing turbines. The project is scheduled to be fully operational in 2018.
The Veja Mate shareholders are Siemens Financial Services, Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners and Highland Group Holdings.
