Trishe Wind Ohio is mulling a turbine switch for its 100MW Northwest Ohio wind farm in the US.
The developer initially proposed to erect up to 50 Gamesa G114 2.1MW machines but is now considering three additional models to take advantage of newer, more efficient technology, it said in a regulatory filing to the Ohio Power Siting Board.
The proponent is also evaluating the GE 2.3MW-116 on 80m or 94m towers, the Vestas V110 2.1MW on 80m or 95m towers and the Vestas V126 3.45MW on 87m towers.
Trishe, a subsidiary of Starwood Energy Group, expects to make a final turbine selection and mobilize for construction by the end of 2016. Commercial operation is slated by the end of 2017.
The project area spans 12,750 acres of leased agricultural land in Paulding County east of the existing Timber Road and Blue Creek wind farms.
Northwest Ohio wind farm will interconnect to the electricity grid via an American Electric Power 138kV line that runs through the footprint.
The project’s economic viability is contingent on the federal production tax credit (PTC), which has been extended through 2019, according to the developer.
It is seeking a PTC equity investor for the project.
