Consultancy group Make nudged up its two-year global wind power capacity forecast by just under 600MW, largely due to outlook upgrades in India and Germany.
In its third-quarter update, Make raised its 2016-to-2018 outlook of around 60GW by 1% after hiking its forecasts for India and Germany by 23% and 9%, respectively. That helped offset downgrades elsewhere in Europe.
Over the longer term, Make trimmed its 2019-to-2025 outlook by 2GW to reflect adverse policy announcements in the UK and Poland.
However, it said the downgrade doesn’t have a significant impact on the global outlook because 10-year compound annual growth rates are maintained from its previous update in the second quarter.
“Growth prospects in India continue to be a focal point for the industry, with the latest policy announcements triggering a 6% upgrade to the second-quarter analysis,” Make said.
