Iberdrola has held a topping out ceremony at the operations and maintenance building for its 350MW Wikinger wind farm in the Baltic Sea.
A Rostock-based subsidiary of construction company Goldbeck is erecting the two-storey building and an adjacent warehouse at the Mukran service port in Sassnitz on Rugen Island.
The building, which will will serve as as the headquarters of the Wikinger project company, will be completed by the end of the year, Iberdrola said.
In April, Iberdrola started offshore construction of the project, its first offshore wind farm in Germany.
Offshore WindForce, a joint venture between Boskalis and Volker Stevin International, is transporting and installing jackets and offshore piles for the wind farm.
More than two thirds of the 286 piles and the first jackets have already been installed, Iberdrola said.
Meanwhile, a Navantia-built offshore substation is expected to arrive at the construction site later this month.
Turbine installation is slated for early 2017, with Adwen supplying 70 5MW AD 5-135 turbines.
Fred Olsen Windcarrier will transport and install the units during the second half of 2017.
Eon is also planning to build an O&M building at the Sassnitz Mukran service port for its 385MW Arkona wind farm to be commissioned in 2019.
