The first wind turbine components for Iberdrola’s 350MW Wikinger offshore wind farm have reached Sassnitz in Germany.
Iberdrola said the nacelles and tower segments are being stored at the Sassnitz facility until they can be installed at the project site in the Baltic Sea at the start of 2017.
A total of five complete sets have arrived in Sassnitz, each consisting of one nacelle, three tower segments and a hub, the company said.
Five more sets will follow in the coming days, Iberdrola said.
The project will consist of 70 5MW Adwen turbines, which are currently being fabricated and assembled in Bremerhaven.
Delivery from Bremerhaven to Sassnitz runs via the Kiel channel and takes 48 hours, Iberdrola said.
It added that Wikinger is progressing on schedule.
