MPI Offshore jack-up Enterprise is expected to install the first turbine this weekend at WPD’s 111MW Nordergrunde wind farm in the German North Sea.
The vessel completed foundation installation this week and will now switch its attentions to the 18 Senvion 6.2M126 turbines to feature at the project.
The hardware will be shipped from Bremerhaven to the construction site in the coming days, weather permitting.
Bilfinger is overseeing the installation of Ambau-built monopiles and Senvion turbines at the project site in the mouth of river Weser, 15km north-east off Wangerooge island in water depths of up to 10 metres.
Nordergrunde will be connected to the grid via a single line by TenneT. Commissioning is planned for late 2016.
WPD is joined by Gothaer Leben Renewables, the European Investment Bank and KfW IPEX Bank as investors in the €410m project.
