Trianel has acquired the 17.25MW Buchenau wind farm in Hesse, as part of plans to grow its renewable energy portfolio in Germany.
The German power supplier said the project, which is located north of Fulda, has been developed by ABO Wind and will feature five Vestas V126 3.45 turbines with a tip height of 200 metres.
Turbines will be erected in September and, when complete, the wind farm will be operated by ABO Wind, Trianel said.
The company’s renewable energy unit Trianel Erneuerbare Energien, which is partly owned by 40 local and regional utilities, aims to operate at least 275MW of wind and solar plants across Germany by 2018.
It bought its first wind projects in Rhineland-Palatinate, Bavaria and Hesse this year, with a total current capacity of 41.25MW.
Trianel’s portfolio also includes two 10MW solar projects in Brandenburg.
