Trianel, ABO fully operational at 33MW German wind

Trianel Renewable Energies and ABO Wind have achieved commercial operation at the 33MW Trianel Windpark Spreeau onshore wind farm in Germany.

The project located in Spreenhagen, Brandenburg features eight Vestas V150 4.2MW turbines with tip heights of 244 metres and hub heights of almost 170 metres.

It is now the largest wind farm in Trianel’s portfolio and was built in cooperation between the Trianel subsidiary Trianel Energieprojekte and ABO Wind.

The project went online in November following an 18-month construction period.

Trianel said that the site will produce around 110 million kWh of electricity each year and contribute to approximately 75,000 tons of CO2 savings annually.

It added that Spreeau was built on commercially used forest areas in the immediate vicinity of the Spreeau motorway triangle on land owned by the Federal Agency for Real Estate Tasks.

Trianel Erneuerbare Energien managing director Markus Hakes said: “With its promising wind conditions and yield forecasts, the Spreeau wind farm means an excellent second location in the Brandenburg region for us.

“In combination with the Uckley wind farm, which is also projected by ABO Wind, we have jointly implemented a municipal wind field with a total of 18 turbines.”

ABO Wind project manager Zacharias Hahn said: “Construction went according to plan and thanks to our transparent project communication with our own website and local citizen information, we were able to answer many questions from residents at an early stage.

“That is why there was almost no resistance to the wind farm.”
