Fred Olsen Windcarrier’s Brave Tern is expected to arrive in Rhode Island on the 31 July with the five GE Renewable Energy nacelles for the 30MW Block Island offshore wind farm.
The vessel, which began its Atlantic journey on 15 July, will anchorfor two days in Narragansett Bay off Newport, between Goat Island and Fort Adams state park, to ready its crew, refuel and undergo US Coast Guard inspections.
Brave Tern will travel to the Block Island site following the inspections.
Montco Offshore heavy lift vessels Paul and Caitlyn will assist Braven Tern with the turbine installation.
The Montco vessels will shuttle turbine components from Providence Port to the wind farm site.
The work is expected to take about one month, said Fred Olsen Windcarrier.
