US developer sPower has signed long-term power purchase agreements with Pacific Gas and Electric Company for three solar parks in California.
The utility will buy electricity from the 60MW Bayshore A, B and C projects near Lancaster during 20 years, sPower said.
The photovoltaic plants will be built and commissioned next year, generating renewable energy for more than 11,000 homes.
“We are excited to expand our relationship with PG&E to a total of more than 100MW of solar, helping PG&E to achieve their goals of delivering safe, reliable, clean energy to their customers,” said sPower chief executive Ryan Creamer.
California renewable portfolio standard policy requires utilities to source a third of their electricity from renewable sources by 2020. PG&E has already reached almost 30%.
