A2Sea is to scrap its cable-lay subsidiary CT Offshore as it looks to focus solely on turbine and foundation installation in the European offshore wind market.
The Danish company said today that CT Offshore will not take on any more projects. All of the subsidiary’s vessels and equipment will be sold.
“A considerable number of employees in both A2Sea and CT Offshore are expected to be made redundant” as a result of the strategic refocus, A2Sea said in a statement.
In addition, A2Sea said crew transfer vessels will no longer be a part of its product portfolio as the company looks to focus on its core installation activities.
The company also said that chief operating officer Hans Schneider will leave the company.
Meetings between management and employee representatives are taking place during the rest of the today and affected employees will be informed this week, A2Sea added.
