US developer NextEra Energy Resources has taken the wraps off a second wind farm in southwest North Dakota.
The 150MW Brady 2 scheme in Hettinger County will be located just south of NextEra’s 150MW Brady project in Stark County.
The state Public Service Commission is considering site applications for the pair. Basin Electric Power Cooperative has signed 30-year power purchase agreements with the two wind farms.
The Stark County Commission approved the Brady project in December and Hettinger officials are now reviewing Brady 2.
NextEra plans to erect 174 GE turbines in total – a mix of 1.715MW, 1.79MW and 2.1MW machines with 80m hub heights. The estimated cost of Brady 2 is $243m.
The wind farms will share a 19-mile 230kV overhead transmission line that connects to the Basin transmission system.
The proponent wants to start construction of Brady in April and kick off work at Brady 2 in July. NextEra anticipates commissioning the pair by the end of the year.
