GE Renewable Energy received 1.4GW of confirmed orders to supply turbines at more than 20 different wind farms across seven countries during December.
About half of the new orders were for the US and the other half are split between countries in the rest of the world including France, Germany, Brazil, Turkey, India and the UK.
The US firm orders include Lincoln Clean Energy and Starwood selecting GE’s new 2.3-116 turbines for the Horse Creek wind farm, a 230MW project in northern Texas. This order also includes a full services agreement and the company will utilise GE’s digital wind farm technology available on new 2 and 3MW platforms.
In Europe, the new business includes the largest French onshore wind deal to date with Velocita Energies for two wind farms in the Franche-Comté region.
In Turkey, GE has won a deal to supply turbines at Guris Insaat’s 85MW extension of the Dinar wind farm in Afyon, and for Dost Enerji’s 70MW Bergres wind farm in Izmir, on the Aegean coast.
“We continue to focus on driving global growth for our business, and the international scope of these deals reflects that effort,” said GE president Anne McEntee.
“We are pleased to see customers adopting our newest hardware and software turbine technologies, and we have built a strong backlog heading into 2016.”
