Wind consultancy BBB has launched a new lidar-based turbine performance assessment and optimisation service.
The service includes: Scada analysis to identify potential underperformance within wind farms; ground-based assessment of flow conditions with ZephIR DM on the ground; and power curve assessment with ZephIR DM turbine-mounted.
It also provides assessments of the nacelle transfer function, sensor calibration and corrective action and re-assessment.
BBB said the aims is to increase opportunities for maximum annual energy production, as well as reduce maintenance costs associated with mis-calibrated sensors controlling the turbine.
Zephir Lidar managing director Ian Locker said: “Owners and operators of wind farms are now able to contract an independent engineering consultant to provide complete turbine performance assessments with ZephIR DM, to optimise their asset and reduce the chance of unnecessary maintenance costs.”
