All-Energy 2026: ‘Slowing the transition is madness’

All-Energy 2026: 'Slowing the transition is madness'

Ahead of this year’s All-Energy 2026 conference in Glasgow, reNEWS has published a special show daily packed with exclusive interviews, analysis and previews of the key themes shaping the renewables sector.

The special edition explores how the industry is navigating a period of rapid change, from grid reform and artificial intelligence to repowering ageing wind fleets and accelerating investment in clean power infrastructure.

Among the highlights is an exclusive interview with Vattenfall UK country manager Claus Wattendrup, who warns that “slowing the energy transition now would be sheer madness” while calling on policymakers to “double down” on domestic renewables.

The show daily also examines growing concerns around the role of AI in future energy systems, with new DNV research arguing that establishing “digital trust” will be critical as networks become increasingly automated and data-driven. Hari Vamadevan, DNV energy systems senior vice president and regional director for UK and Ireland, said: “Scaling AI without assurance creates new and very real risks.”

Elsewhere, the North Sea Transition Authority outlines its vision for integrating offshore energy sectors as decommissioning activity intensifies across the UK Continental Shelf.

The edition also features analysis from Gneiss Energy vice president Andrew Ellis, who argues Britain’s ageing wind fleet presents a “significant opportunity” for investors pursuing repowering and M&A strategies.

Readers can also find previews of key conference sessions featuring UK Energy Minister Michael Shanks, NESO chief executive Fintan Slye and Great British Energy chief executive Dan McGrail.
